Disclaimer: I don’t own Naruto, but I do own… *Lightning flashes in the background* YOUR SOUL! Mwahahahahahahaha!
Oh yeah! I know I’ve told you you’re twelve, but I didn’t tell you Kisame’s age! He’s thirteen right now. >.>
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kisame grinned as he set his Samehada down, staring at the motionless body by his feet. His opponent was a weakling; Kisame didn’t even break a sweat. He wished that he could’ve had more of a challenge but it was still nice to be finished with the exams.
Kisame was now officially a Genin; he was now considered an adult and a true ninja of the village. Maybe now he would finally get the recognition he deserved.
Kisame lifted his giant sword and slung it over his shoulder with ease then walked out of the arena. He grinned again as he passed a group of medical ninjas that rushed to take away the body. Not that it mattered; the boy was already dead.
Kisame slowly walked off to gather in the hallway with the rest of the survivors. He stayed away from the others, keeping his distance as he leaned against the wall. His eyes briefly skimmed over the occupants of the room and frowned. You weren’t anywhere among the crowd.
Kisame wasn’t really surprised; he was just disappointed that he had wasted all that time training you for nothing. You had actually improved a lot in such a short amount of time, just not quite enough.
Oh well. It was nothing for Kisame to get upset about anyway. It wasn’t as if he even liked you very much. In fact, maybe now he’d finally be able to get some peace and quiet.
“Yo!”
Had Kisame been a lesser ninja, he would’ve jumped when you appeared in front of him, startling him out of his thoughts. Instead, he looked at you with impassive eyes as he crossed his arms.
“Guess what Kisa-kun, guess what! I passed my exams!” you squealed. Kisame took a moment to roll his eyes. Of course you passed the test; otherwise you wouldn’t be standing in front of him. “At first I was really worried because my opponent looked really, really strong but then I remembered all those neat moves you taught me and I pulverized him AND I PASSED!” you squealed excitedly, bouncing up and down where you were standing.
“So, where were you? I didn’t see you earlier” Kisame questioned, trying not to sound interested. Of course he wasn’t interested, he just wanted to be completely aware of his surroundings like any proper ninja. That’s all.
“Oh, that? I had to go to the potty” you answered sheepishly, rubbing the back of your neck. “I drank a lot of water so I’d be hydrated for the fight! So, Kisa-kun, did you win your fight?”
“No, I died during the exam. This is my ghost talking to you” Kisame grunted.
You sat there for a moment, staring at him curiously before you finally realized he was being sarcastic. “Hey, that was almost funny! You’re starting to get a sense of humor” you said with a grin. “Hey, how about after we get our ninja headbands we go out and get ice cream to celebrate! It’ll be my treat!”
“…I don’t like sweets.”
You stared at Kisame incredulously. “WHAT?! How can you not like sweets?!” What kind of kid are you?!”
He narrowed his eyes as he stared down at you. “The mature kind.”
“More like the boring kind!” you responded, putting your hands on your hips. “I swear Kisame, you wouldn’t know a good time if it punched you in the gut and stole your lunch money!”
“Call me boring, but getting punched in the stomach and getting mugged doesn’t sound very fun to me.”
You ignored him. “Too bad. Whether you like it or not, we’re going to go out and eat ice cream and you’re going to like it! And if you don’t have a fun time and enjoy yourself then I’ll shove your ice cream up your nose and give you a bad case of brain freeze.”
Kisame sighed and nodded his head. He really didn’t want to do it; he would’ve much preferred to go back home and train. However, he knew that if he didn’t accept your invitation then you would just follow him home again and bug him until he finally caved in for the sake of getting you to shut up.
Kisame observed the large grin on your face as you smiled up at him.
Oh well, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.
~~~~~~*~~~~~~
Kisame frowned down at the ice cream in his hands. He really didn’t care much for sweets.
He turned towards you, watching as you licked at your ice cream in pure bliss, savoring the sweet taste.
Your lips wouldn’t taste very good to him either, he noted, as you licked a droplet of ice cream off of your bottom lip.
Kisame quickly shook his head then glared at his ice cream with a heated glare. The stupid treat was making him think weird things. Kisame blamed it on the high level of sugar. Still, he continued to eat the frozen dessert so that you wouldn’t harass him for making you waste your money on him, despite the fact that he didn’t want to go out with you in the first place.
When the both of you had finished your ice creams, Kisame had started to walk off. You quickly followed after him.
“I can’t believe I actually passed!” you squealed as you fingered the hidden mist headband that was now hanging from your neck. You absentmindedly traced the pattern of the four squiggly lines that symbolized your village with your finger in your excitement. “We’re officially ninjas now!”
Kisame grunted in reply.
“We’ll get to go on missions and help old ladies cross the street and rescue kittens from trees and save a group of children from a burning orphanage! Or is that a fireman’s job? Anyway, we’ll get to go on missions and save damsels in distress and protect people and use our awesome ninja skills for the power of good!” you exclaimed as you threw your arms in the air. “I’m so glad to be alive!”
Kisame sped up his pace, hoping that if he got farther away from you then people wouldn’t think that the two of you knew each other. He moved with long strides, passing by two of his male classmates that were doing some target-practice, their backs turned to him as they threw kunai at a red and white target.
“Can you believe they let that Hoshigaki kid pass the exams?”
Kisame stopped in his tracks.
“Of course they let him pass” the second boy replied as he chucked a kunai, hitting the target dead-on. “He’s a monster! He’d probably eat the teachers if they didn’t pass him.”
You finally caught up to Kisame, panting as you stopped by his side. “You jerk. You walked away that fast on purpose, you…” You paused as you noticed Kisame wasn’t paying any attention to you. “Kisa-kun, what’s wrong?”
The first boy laughed. “You’re probably right. That whole Hoshigaki family is full of freaks. They’re all monstrously strong. I bet it won’t be long before they turn on the village and slaughter us all.”
“I don’t know why the Mizukage lets them live” the second boy stated as he pulled his kunai out from the target. “They’re a threat. We’d all be much safer if they were destroyed.”
“Yeah” the first boy nodded in agreement. “You know, some people are just better off dead.”
Kisame heard a low growl and was surprised to find that it didn’t come from him. He stared down at you, watching as you grit your teeth and clenched your fists. It was the first time Kisame had ever seen you angry.
“Just ignore them,” he told you, “This is of no concern to you.”
“It is my concern” you stated in a surprisingly calm voice.
Kisame was about to question you on why you felt that this was any of your business but you were already heading towards the two boys.
The boys turned as they heard your footsteps. They stopped conversing and watched you curiously as you approached them. You stood before them, your head bent towards the ground, causing your hair to cast a shadow over your eyes.
Two resounding smacks echoed through the air.
You glared at the boys as they held their cheeks which were now both sporting bright red handprints. “Don’t ever let me catch you talking about the Hoshigaki family like that again” you growled, your voice dripping with venom.
Both boys glared at you. “Monster-lover” one of them called you. You didn’t really care which one it was. It didn’t matter.
“The only monsters I see are you two” you replied, turning your back on them as you walked back towards Kisame. As you reached him you gave him a dazzling smile. “Let’s go, Kisa-kun” you said with a grin as you took his hand, dragging him off towards his home.
Kisame didn’t fight you; he simply allowed you to pull him away.
“Ya know,” you started, drawing Kisame’s attention to you, “I’m really glad that you’re alive too, Kisa-kun.”
“…Thank you.”
Kisame wasn’t sure if he could ever look at you as the same annoying little girl again. Deep down, he wasn’t even sure if he wanted to anyway.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What’s this?! Is it springtime for Kisame already?! xD Lol. Looks like Kisame is starting to see you in a different light. It must be all those teenage hormones.
Meh. This chapter was too serious for my tastes. Next chapter should be a little funnier. >.>
