Halloween. A night when ghouls roam free and the dead walk amongst the living. A night when evil spirits and other such monsters are given their chance to blend in with the mortals and create mischief. A night when-
“-A bunch of punk-ass kids dress up in slutty costumes, TP houses, party and drink until they spew, and otherwise make complete assholes of themselves. No, Téa, I do not want to go to the Halloween party with you” you muttered to your friend before turning your attention back towards your book. This was the third time today that she had begged you to go to the party with you and it was becoming quite tiresome.
“But _____, everyone who’s anyone will be there! This is going to be the party of the century! You can’t honestly tell me that you’d rather spend your Halloween sitting at home and reading a book, can you?”
You didn’t even take your eyes off the book’s pages as you answered her. “Someone has to stay here and hand out candy to the children.” You turned the page with a sigh. “Besides, I’d rather not spend my night partying at the Kaiba mansion. I hate Kaiba. A lot. I mean, if my hate for Kaiba could be measured in dollars then I’d be richer than he is.”
Téa snatched your book from your hands, earning a particularly vicious snarl from you. “I don’t care much for Kaiba either, but that’s why I’m going to the party! We get to mooch off of Kaiba; we’ll get to trash his house, eat his food, and possibly even throw cheese puffs at his head when he’s not looking.”
You grinned at the thought. As much as you despised Kaiba, you had to admit that is was fun getting on his bad side. “I dunno… The idea is awfully tempting, but-“
“Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssssse!” Téa cut you off, getting down on her knees and giving you the biggest, saddest puppy-dog eyes you had ever seen. Small tear-drops started to well up in her large, cerulean orbs and her lips stuck out in a pathetic, pitiful pout. “If you don’t go with me I’ll be stuck going with Yugi, Joey, and Tristan and I’ll be the only girl! That’s a fate worse than death! Please, _____, have mercy on me!”
You sighed, rubbing your temple to fight off the impending migraine. “Fine, I’ll go, but no more drama lessons for you.” Téa jumped up to her feet excitedly and made some strange sort of victory pose before giving you back your book. You gladly accepted it and went back to your reading.
“Alright, I come back here to pick you up at seven o’ clock, okay?” you nodded your head in response, not really listening to what she was saying. “I promise you won’t regret this!” she called out as she rushed out of your house and slammed the door.
“I already do” you muttered absentmindedly to yourself, flipping the page of your book and being drawn into the sanctity of your fantasy world for the time being. Ah, your fantasy world; a magical place where friends didn’t pressure you to go to parties you had no interest in and Seto Kaiba playfully frolicked through the fields of eternal happiness and joy while dressed in a bunny suit.
Before you knew it, seven o’ clock had approached you. The loud, annoying ringing of the doorbell rudely interrupted you from reading your book and you were forced to set your book down and answer the door, grumbling all the while. When you opened the door to see Téa dressed up as the Dark Magician Girl, your grumbles turned into a loud groan. Crap! Now I have to go to that stupid party! Curse you Téa, curse you, your puppy-dog eyes, and your dramatic lessons!
Téa frowned. “_____, you’re not wearing a costume…” Her frown suddenly transformed into a wicked smile which meant bad news for you. Your eyes widened in horror at the evil smirk that had formed on her usually kind face. “Looks like I get to help you pick out your outfit…”
You were frozen in fear and could do nothing as Téa dragged you away to your room so that she could search your closet and make you look as ridiculous as humanly possible.
Fifteen long minutes later…
Several pairs of pants and other such articles of clothing were laying half-hazardly around the room, all of which had been carefully inspected by Téa before she grunted in disapproval and carelessly threw them out of her way. You had nearly burst into tears at the sight of your now-messy room but you refrained yourself from doing so, allowing only a small sob to escape from your throat every now and then.
Meanwhile, Téa chose to ignore your childish behavior in favor of pulling out one more outfit. She looked down at it and smiled. She gathered the outfit in her arms and turned towards you, now completely satisfied with the load in her arms. She set each costume down on the bed, spreading them out and displaying them to you in all their entirety.
You looked down at each costume with surprise; you didn’t remember buying any of those outfits. Perhaps your parent/guardian had slipped it in one night as a surprise? The thought was highly unlikely, but you couldn’t explain their sudden appearance in your closet any other way.
Téa smirked at your expression, taking your silence and shocked look as a good sign. “So _____, what’s it gonna be?”
Dear child, I warn you; think carefully before you make your decision. The costume you choose could decide your entire fate; it could even decide the entire nature of your life’s story. Beware, dear child, and choose with great caution. Your life depends on it…
The bunny costume… What could possibly be dangerous about a bunny? (Page 2)
The vampire costume… No one will mess with me in this badass outfit! (Page 3)
The witch costume… Mess with me and I’ll turn you into a toad! (Page 4)
The maid costume… Maybe I can pretend to be one of Kaiba’s maids and get away from the party…? (Page 5)
